DRIVER - AK

SUMMARY

Drives truck with any capacity to transport materials to and from specified destinations, by performing the following duties:

Essential Functions

  1. Drives truck to destination or spot trailers.
  2. Prepares receipts if necessary for load picked up.
  3. Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations if required.
  4. Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive instructions.
  5. Loads and unloads truck if required.
  6. Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
  7. Positions blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo during transit if necessary.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
  2. Acquire knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  3. Notify designated personnel of any environmental and safety incidents, or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and or Safety training.

Education:

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid State Class A Commercial Driver's License if necessary.

All drivers must hold a valid medical certificate if necessary, and be subject to additional random drug screens. 

 Experience:

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work Environment:   

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands:   

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Mental Activities:      

While performing duties of this job the employee will frequently engage in teamwork.  The employee will occasionally be required to use interpersonal and customer service skills.  The employee will occasionally need to speak and read English.
