SHIPPING - RECEIVING COORD AK

SUMMARY

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties:

Essential Functions

  1. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  2. Determines method of shipment.
  3. Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
  4. Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
  5. Inserts items into containers.
  6. Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
  7. Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
  8. Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
  9. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  10. Routes items to departments.
  11. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  12. Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  13. Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.

Additional Responsibilities:   

  1. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
  2. Acquire knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  3. Notify designated personnel of any environmental and safety incidents, or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and or Safety training.

Education:

N/A

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must be forklift certified, or able to become forklift certified. Must be able to qualify for lift truck certification within two weeks.

Experience:

Six months experience working in a warehouse environment, proven knowledge of computers and basic spreadsheet programs.

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, word processing software and presentation software.

Work Environment:    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Mental Activities:       While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to use decision making skills, creativity, independent judgment, discretion, and problem analysis. The employee will occasionally use interpersonal skills and team work. The employee will regularly speak and read English, and use customer service skills.
