QA LEAD - L48

Leads and conducts activities of QA Technicians responsible for the quality assurance of production processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties:

Essential Functions:       

  1. Responsible for overseeing the QA staff on the production line.
  2. Assist QA technicians with operational reports and complete required paperwork (daily process documentation, questions about checks, etc.).
  3. Monitors performance of QA technicians and provides assessment to QA supervisor.
  4. Complete documentation and report out comments/warnings given to employees while supervisor absent. 
  5. Monitor employees (as time permits with running a line) to make sure that checks are being done in a timely manner and all hand/foot dips are being done.
  6. Conducts standardized tests on products and materials to ensure compliance with standards and regulations regarding factors such as color, weight, dimension, texture.
  7. Reviews purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.
  8. Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with HACCP standards and company policies and procedures.
  9. Records test data such as weights, temperatures, moisture content, qualities and quantities inspected or graded.
  10. Applies proper acceptance/rejection criteria and marks items with details such as grade and acceptance or rejection status.
  11. Audits production facility and reviews employee behavior for proper sanitation. 
  12. Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to Production/QA Management.
  13. Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities to production.
  14. Maintains a working knowledge of company, government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Education:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.  Computer skills include intermediate knowledge of database software.

Work Environment:

The employee will frequently be subject to the following conditions: Wet or humid conditions, near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, subject to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme heat and cold, and vibration.  The work environment is loud.

Physical Demands:

The employee will be constantly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee will frequently sit and walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear, and taste or smell.  The employee will frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift items up to 25 pounds.  This job requires peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point).

 

Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use teamwork skills.  The employee will occasionally use interpersonal and customer service skills.  The employee will occasionally perform basic math and read, speak and write English.  The employee will frequently need to understand English.
