PURCHASING AGENT LFS FULL TIME

LFS, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Trident Seafoods.  LFS has locations in Bellingham, Seattle and Poulsbo, WA and Anchorage, Cordova, Dutch Harbor, Homer, Kenai, Sitka, Naknek and Dillingham, AK.

This job is based at our Bellingham WA Corporate office. 

Job Summary: Assists in the maintenance of supplies and inventory by performing the following duties:

 

Essential Functions

  1. Reviews inventory records to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity.
  2. Consults catalogs, website, factory reps and suppliers to obtain prices and specifications.
  3. Monitors risk of current suppliers and develops alternate supplies.
  4. Works closely with warehousing and receiving to ensure accurate invoicing.
  5. Compares prices, specifications, delivery dates and places orders with suppliers.
  6. Suggest slow moving items for sales and or closeouts.
  7. Work closely with distribution to insure smooth flow of product through system.
  8. Develops and manages vendor relationships.
  9. Monitor inventory levels by location and maintain purchasing/inventory levels to meet seasonal expectations.
  10. Maintain constant awareness of market trends, pricing, and communicates regularly with all division managers.
  11. Perform short and long term planning of purchases for all related divisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

College degree (BA) and/or 3-5 years experience in Purchasing.

Experience:

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.   To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, word processing software and presentation software. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
