NAKNEK MARINE CENTER  / SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT

This job runs from approx. 05/01-07/31/19. Room, board, and flight to and from Naknek provided. The job requires you to work at least 10 hours a day, 7 days a week, at our multi-use facility. (Retail store/boatyard/bunkhouse facility) Alaska overtime rules apply; you will be paid time and a half for hours worked over 8 per day and over 40 per week. 

Job Summary:  Manages a variety of general office activities at a very busy SEASONAL location by performing the following duties: 

Essential Functions:

  1. Analyzes and organizes office operations and procedures.
  2. Help on sales floor as needed
  3. Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow.
  4. Demonstrates the ability to seek continuous improvement of cost management in day to day operations.
  5. Coordinates complex projects with other departments and interacts with other department personnel to accomplish projects.
  6. Maintain ongoing communication with customers, employees, vendors, and fishermen; which may vary by location.

 

Additional Responsibilities: 

  1. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned based on the plan operational and management needs per location.

Four year degree (B.A.); or up to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, word processing software and presentation software.

Work Environment: Marine Center: Retail, Office, Warehouse, Boat Yard. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand and talk to hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Mental Activities: Mental Activities:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, speak, write and understand English, and must regularly use customer service skills.  The employee will frequently use interpersonal and teamwork skills.  The employee must occasionally use decision making skills, creativity, discretion, training; perform problem analysis, and exercise independent judgment.
