INDUSTRIAL SEWING MACHINE OPERATOR & NET PRODUCTION LFS

Job Summary:  Seeking knowledgeable and competent individual to work as part of our sport and industrial netting production team utilizing industrial grade rope serger and double needle binding machines. Previous sewing experience is desired but not mandatory.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to use double needle webbing binder machine (Union Special 81200)
  • Ability to use rope serger machine (Union Special 81500)
  • Sets up and adjusts machines for job runs to meet specifications
  • Completes detailed instructions from job orders accurately and precisely
  • Monitors machines during job runs, checks precision or detail against specifications and takes action to correct any problems
  • Monitors machines, remains alert to mechanical problems and corrects or refers for maintenance if necessary
  • Initiates the startup and running of jobs in keeping with production schedule
  • Adheres to safety guidelines and keeps work space clean and organized
  • Willingness to adapt to evolving job responsibilities and expand scope of experience as the department grows
  • Must be willing to assist in other area of production constructing golf, baseball, and barrier nets from netting, twine and rope

 

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Ability to lift, slide, and manipulate sections of netting projects that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs
  • Must be able to change the needle and thread as required on machine
  • Must be willing to assist in other areas of production as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Special Training/Skills (Language):

Ability to understand and interpret job ticket instructions. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Special Training/Skills (Math):

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Special Training/Skills:

Must be able to operate, or be trained to operate, industrial grade sewing, binding, and serger equipment.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, vibration and loud noise.

Physical Demands:

While performing this job the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands and fingers; hand-wrist movement, hand-eye coordination, and simple firm grasping required for manipulation. Must have good physical range of motion and the ability to lift or move 25lbs-50lbs. Ability to use hands and arms in a repetitive motion for the duration of the shift, including repeated bending, stretching and twisting.
