QA - SUPERVISOR

Summary: The QA Supervisor is responsible for directing and supervising a group of employees involved in the quality control program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plans and assigns work of subordinates.
  • Develops and/or adapt inspection equipment to meet quality control standards, make suggestions about procedures, standards, and equipment to facilitate work and maintain product quality.
  • Analyzes facts or circumstances surrounding individual problems to determine what action should be taken within the limits of standard practices.
  • Responsible for compilation and maintenance of inspection reports and records.
  • Investigate and determine cause of faulty work and consult and advise production supervisors as to corrective measures.
  • Keeps manager abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
  • Maintains discipline, morale and harmonious relations among team
  • Investigates and adjust personnel problems within area of responsibility
  • Effectively recommend as to hiring, promotions, wage adjustments and terminations
  • Responsible for ongoing verification of Specification/Work Order agreement to ensure proper execution of the daily production schedule
  • Provide ongoing oversight of all HACCP monitoring and verification activities to ensure CCP Critical Limits are achieved

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions 
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Experience Preferred:

  • Three to five years’ supervisory experience in the seafood industry or a Quality Assurance field or
  • Knowledge of HACCP regulations, Food Safety, and Audit procedures required

Education Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications Preferred:

  • HACCP certification
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations 
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of inspection and Quality Control methods, techniques and equipment 
  • Ability to use of a wide variety of measuring instruments and complicated drawings.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception.

Mental Activities:

While performing duties of this job the employee will frequently engage in teamwork. The employee will frequently be required to use teamwork skills and understand English. The employee will occasionally need to speak, read, and write English, and will be occasionally required to use customer service skills and perform basic math.

This is an Hourly – Non-Exempt position with an hourly rate range of: $24 - $48.
