Summary:  The Electrician maintains, installs, rebuilds, and repairs equipment per specifications and required electrical codes. They would also troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, PLC’s, controllers, lighting controls, and electrical motors in a food processing environment along with general mechanical and maintenance duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers to share steps to diagnose and repair malfunction.
  • Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, fixtures, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  • Able to work with 480v, 220v, and 110v AC circuits, as well as trouble shoot and diagnose issues.
  • Able to balance loads in panels to ensure even use of distribution across multi-phase systems.
  • Able to install, maintain, and troubleshoot high amperage disconnects.
  • Able to trace circuits back to load panels as well as safely disconnect circuits to create safe work environments.
  • Able to run, bend and install rigid and flextite conduit in such a manner to adhere to local codes and regulations.
  • Diagnoses and repairs electrical systems due to water damage.
  • Have and understanding and working knowledge on control circuitry to be able to self-diagnose issues.
  • Plan and install necessary Wiring requirements to bring necessary power to equipment in a safe way that meets local codes and regulations.
  • Wires, installs, and programs Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) with limited oversight.
  • Able to troubleshoot inputs and outputs on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
  • Able to troubleshoot, wire and Install Photo eyes.
  • Able to troubleshoot safety electrical systems, estops, and conveyor electrical controls.
  • Able to work with and install, troubleshoot, and diagnose Relays’ Contactors, Breakers, and Motor Starters.
  • Able to rewire 3 phase motors for correct rotation.
  • Inspects electrical systems.
  • Understands and implements safe working procedures.
  • Follows plant food safety policies and industry best practices.
  • Able to use LOTO when working on equipment and LOTO potentially dangerous scenarios.

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years of Industrial electrical experience
  • A minimum of 2 years’ PLC Experience.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and create blueprints.
  • Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring.
  • Ability to PM and Work with Power Distribution panels.
  • Strong ability to work in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship and valid electrician’s license.
  • Industry specific experience
