Summary:  The Maintenance Mechanic operates and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices
  • Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment, and machinery
  • Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications
  • Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, saws, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts; and sharpens and reshapes tools as necessary
  • Initiates purchase order for parts and machines
  • Repairs electrical equipment
  • Maintains a flexible schedule to accommodate twelve shifts with variable work days depending on maintenance workload
  •  Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test equipment or software, and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electronic units and systems

 

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
  • Performs other responsibilities and tasks as assigned

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum three months related experience and/or training
    • or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • One year certificate in maintenance related field from college or technical school
  • Currently have or ability to obtain class 2B or higher boiler license
  • One year of industrial mechanical experience

Physical Demands:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is frequently required to climb or balance.

The employee is regularly required to stoop; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear.

The employee moves objects

  • regularly up to 5 pounds
  • frequently up to 25 pounds
  • occasionally up to 50 pounds.

 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to distinguish shades of color to identify abnormalities and/or defects in food products.
