Summary: The Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technical Services Specialist is responsible for the management and technical support of new products/projects affecting the Motley facility and customers. Act as liaison between plant and support center to effectively merge information and project management systems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical support and assistance for implementation of common information systems between corporate and plant level, including SOP’s, data management and customer information.
  • Coordinates, tracks and provides assistance and technical support to new product/process projects by coordinating activities between support center project managers and plant operational units.
  • Coordinates with Support Center FSQA to prepare and provide customer specifications to customers and salespersons.
  • Assists with management of product information input for customer data systems
  • Coordinates with Support Center FSQA to ensure regulatory compliance and accuracy of labeling primarily for products produced at the Motley location.
  • Management of new item setups and existing items changes (Product Lifecycle Management) for Motley. Gatekeeper of packaging numbers, creation and maintenance of production specifications and formulas for Motley facility.
  • Management and interpretation of surimi use plan and projections
  • Analysis, reporting and interpretation of food safety, quality and productivity data to provide a scientific basis for management decisions.
  • Analysis and understanding of cooking operations for food safety. Process validation testing.

 

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions 
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years’ packaged food industry experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) required.
  • Food industry-specific knowledge of ingredients, food allergens, ingredient functionality and product formulas
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required (excellent verbal and written presentation skills to communicate to an audience ranging from peers to Senior Staff).

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Food Science or related field, (or equivalent combination of education and additional experience)
  • 5 years packaged food industry experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge and experience with ESHA Genesis R&D is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with 3rd party web data sites (iCiX, FSENet. ECCNet, SpecConnect) is a plus.
  • Adhere to aggressive deadlines and work with minimal direct supervision.
  • 24-hour company operations may require after hours, weekend work and overnight travel.
  • Experience in the seafood industry or in a further process operation

The employee is frequently required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

Job requires working in close confines.

The employee moves objects regularly up to 25 pounds.
