Summary:  The Global Safety Center of Excellence - Safety Manager will support environmental, health, and safety (EHS) leadership in the design, implementation, communication and coordination of all enterprise safety, security and occupational health safety processes and programs. This Seattle-based position will provide EHS expertise to various sites and locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports EHS programs and processes by providing advice and guidance to Company Senior Management
  • Reviews, creates, and implements internal policies, standards and practices to ensure they are current, appropriate, and compliant.
  • Conducts hazard and risk assessments and change existing, or develop new recommendations which serve to drive regulatory compliance and EHS performance excellence
  • Provides regular written reports, as well as other EHS related results and provide updates to EHS leadership
  • Assists in the investigation of serious incidents and ensure proper records are completed and submitted. Assist in implementation of corrective actions as it relates to the incident and ensure “lessons learned” are communicated throughout the Company and are incorporated into the program
  • Develops, supervises, and coordinates training programs or media which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote EHS consciousness
  • Addresses specific injury reporting and record keeping requirements of OSHA, DOT, USDA, EPA etc., as well as other pertinent domestic and international safety/regulatory compliance matters and ensure sites are compliant.
  • Conducts site visits/audits

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions 
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings

This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $100k to $130k.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of EHS experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or related technical field, or the equivalent combination of education and years of experience.
  • Travel will be required, including international travel, and travel to remote locations is required at times (appx 25%).  Most travel is planned, project based.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA 500 and CSP certifications
  • Advanced knowledge of fishery and/or foods manufacturing industry practices, regulatory agency requirements and industry standards recommended, but not required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to speak effectively with key business stakeholders and leaders.
  • Ability to resolve issues quickly with little or no direction from a superior. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format.
  • Strong negotiating skills

Work Environment:

  • Varied - from loud, wet factory environments, requiring the use of PPE, to offices and conference rooms.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle/feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • You are occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop or kneel.
  • You may occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • The position requires that you will walk the interior and exterior of facilities and have the ability to safely climb ladders, climb stairs, walk on uneven ground and work in areas of cold temperature.
