Summary:

The Facilities Operator IV will operate, maintain and repair various machinery and equipment in a designated area such as edible oil production, meal production, water treatment and fuel farm.

Essential functions (responsibilities, tasks, supervisory needs)

  • Supervises daily routine of operations, including scheduling, training, maintenance and repairs.
  • Uses hand tools to perform basic adjustments and maintenance to equipment under the supervision of a senior operator. 
  • Monitors various operation indicators to such as fuel or material levels and auger speeds to ensure equipment is operating properly.
  • Performs or supervises startup and shut down of equipment in assigned area as appropriate.
  • Performs basic adjustments and maintenance independently as directed by a supervisor or senior operator. 
  • Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment and machinery.
  • Collects, logs and maintains information and data as needed to meet Trident and regulatory standards.
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation to detect and locate issues.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of company, industry and regulatory SOP’s, codes and standards.
  • Works with Supervisor or plant management to schedule repairs and projects
  • May supervise a smaller facility or department operation
  • Conducts tests as needed to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provides data and reports to management as requested to update on facility operations and issues.
  • Participates in, contributes to and provides support during regulatory audits as needed.
  • Conducts audits and inspections of facility performance and activities. 
  • Ensures proper and timely completion of corrective actions as a result of audits and inspections.
  • Develops and implements SOP’s to ensure optimal operation of the facility. 
  • Ensures spare parts, supplies, and consumables are on hand as required.
  • Develops and conducts training for department personnel. 
  • Maintains communications with primary manager to ensure seamless operations and processes.
  • Supervises and/or provides mentorship to subordinate operators.

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)

Must be a current Trident Seafoods employee or have worked for Trident Seafoods before

  • 10 years’ of experience in Facilities Operations, certifications in specific field relating to required duties.  
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience supervising others and managing daily operations.  
  • Completion of leadership, development, and safety training that meets Trident standards.  

Preferred education and experience

  • Associates degree or Trade School certification in a related field
  • Strong computer skills.
  • OSHA 10 and 30 certifications
  • HAZWOPER Certification 

Work environment (includes travel/on-call):

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is frequently required to climb or balance.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
