Summary:  The Maintenance Manager directs, and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems at the plant. This position is also responsible for establishing and continuously improving maintenance systems by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviews work orders to determine work priorities.
  • Leads and manages PM Pillar activity for the plant.
  • Collaborates with other PM Pillar leaders and plant leadership to establish vision and execution plan for asset reliability management.
  • Drives continuous improvement of plant manufacturing processes while keeping abreast of new technologies and applications.
  • Maintains, updates, and creates PM processes in CMMS.
  • Drives capital expense prioritization and project development and management.
  • Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
  • Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, refrigeration, or air required for operations.
  • Develops preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
  • Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational and safety standards.
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operation.
  • Establishes skill matrices, drives skills assessment and training programs for all maintenance roles.
  • Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
  • Assists FSQA, EHS, and HR with all audits and audit processes.
  • Assists in preparation of department budget and monitoring expenditure of funds in budget.
  • Responsible for assisting Bellingham Cold Storage maintain their PSM Program for Ammonia.
  • Actively serve on the Hazmat Team.

 

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • May maintain records and other relevant documents pertaining to equipment and supplies.
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions 
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings
  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years food manufacturing maintenance experience, preferably in the seafood industry. 
  • Two years’ experience supervising others required.
  • Must have a proven success record working within time restrictions.
  • Must have working knowledge of AM (Autonomous Maintenance) Pillars and how Maintenance supports the AM Pillars.
  • Strong understanding of breakdown analysis and Reliability Engineering.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in electrical or mechanical engineering; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years’ experience working in a TPM (TPS) environment.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
