Summary:  The Operations Manager manages all activities related to operations and the production of seafood products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages production operations of the processing facility, including staffing, engineering, planning, quality control and maintenance to effect operational efficiency and economy.
  • Manages relationships with independent fishermen and tender vessels who supply the facilities.  Recruits new fishermen and tenders as needed.
  • Ensures that all facility operations are in compliance with laws and regulations. Ensures that the final product is safe to deliver to market.  
  • Coordinates manufacturing activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Resolves any operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Develops and maintains operations business plans including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs to ensure performance at planned capacity.
  • Monitors facility production reports and financials to ensure all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.
  • Provides input to the development of product strategy and research and development of new and emerging products.
  • Trains and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions 
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years supervision/leadership experience in manufacturing operation environment
  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Continuous Improvement / Lean manufacturing experience; Green Belt or higher certification preferred
  • Experience managing people and supply logistics in remote Alaska. 
  • Effective at communicating with people from diverse cultures.
  • Must be flexible, innovative, and comfortable in setting own priorities and driving same to the production floor
  • Able to work both independently and within a team generating results with general/minimal guidance
