Summary:  Repairs and Maintains ammonia refrigeration units and mechanical equipment such as pumps, condensers, compressors, valves, and other utility system components.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform installation and commissioning of ammonia refrigeration systems, including piping, valves, compressors, condensers, evaproators, and controls, adhering to relevant safety standards and guidelines.
  • Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ammonia refrigeration equipment to identify and resolve potential issues. This includes checking for leaks, monitoring system performance, and performing preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning components or equipment in ammonia refrigeration systems. This may involve replacing faulty parts, recharging refrigerant, adjusting controls, or performing necessary adjustments to restore optimal system functionality.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures related to ammonia Refrigeration systems. Monitor and maintain records of system performance, leak detection, equipment inspections, and safety protocols.
  • Be available for emergency response and troubleshooting in case of system failures or leaks. Act quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime and potential risks.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and equipment inventory. Prepare reports and documentation as required.
  • Provide guidance and training to other technicians or employees regarding safe operation, maintenance, and best practices for ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Identify opportunities for system improvements, energy efficiency, and cost savings. Collaborate with the team to implement upgrades or modifications that enhance system performance.

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4-year related experience and/or training.
  • Understanding of safety procedures and regulations associated with ammonia refrigeration systems, including hazardous materials and emergency response protocols.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and resolving technical issues in ammonia refrigeration systems, utilizing problem solving techniques and tools.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Possession of relevant certification such as RETA CARO, RETA CIRO, RETA CRST, or equivalent.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is frequently required to climb or balance.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

The employee moves objects
