Working under department director, provides direction and leadership to team(s) of environmental compliance specialists supporting U.S. seafood processing facilities and fishing vessels. Implements policies and procedures meant to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards governing organizational impact on the environment. Supports adherence to Trident Seafood’s Environmental Policy and Environmental Management System procedures.


  • Lead team(s) of 3-6 specialists in providing support and solutions in facility environmental compliance matters.
  • Review communication with regulatory agencies and recommend solutions to resolve enforcement actions.
  • Identify and communicate key responsibilities and practices to appropriate personnel to support environmental regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the investigation of environmental non-compliance incidents or potential non-compliance incidents. Analyze root causes, determine corrective or preventative measures, and coordinate implementation of selected measure(s). Lead incident management follow up to determine if measures have been implemented and determine effectiveness of measures implemented.
  • Supervise and manage assigned staff, including employee performance reviews and strategy.
  • Facilitate completion of environmental program objectives by providing clear, continuous direction to assigned staff. Operate as contributing member of a Team to achieve Trident and Team goals and responsibilities.
  • Coordinate and engage facility and Team personnel in the identification, development and implementation of environmental goals which will positively impact and add value to the Trident organization.
  • Clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal stakeholders to reduce the risks of environmental non-compliance and meet sustainability goals.
  • Conduct periodic tests, audits, or inspections of organizational processes or facilities and report findings to department director and Trident management.
  • Travel, approximately 25% of the year, includes multiple trips accessing remote facilities which may require transportation by small aircraft and vessels in the Gulf of Alaska and Bering Sea regions.

Minimum Requirements



Education: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience or a combination of relevant education and experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to comfortably engage with all levels of stakeholder and external customers
  • Proven organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to operate at both a granular and macro level
  • Ability to work independently and at times unsupervised while still delivering expected and required results
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships
  • Problem/situation analysis
  • Analytical thinking skills – good judgement

  • Multi-site management/responsibility
  • Manufacturing experience
  • LEAN, Six Sigma or similar
