SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Category Management provides strategic leadership across a portfolio of differing species. In this capacity, they will manage and coordinate several tactical functions, including supply market management and development, inventory control, strategic planning and execution and sales negotiations. Additionally, they will be responsible for the performance and risk management of their portfolio.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assesses supply markets and supply arrangements by analyzing market trends, dynamics and opportunities; inform market strategies and procurement decisions and ensure procurement arrangements meet business needs.
  • Works with other function departments including supply chain, marketing, R&D and operations to manage the product line portfolio.
  • Create new products, features and capabilities that will satisfy the demands of the market, ensuring performance and price are appropriate to be competitive.
  • Provides expert advice to key stakeholders on all aspects of procurement and the procurement category; encourages innovative practices and support delivery of business and policy directions.
  • Establishes and maintain value-based stakeholder and strategic supplier relationships; ensures that category strategies meet business needs, enhance stakeholder engagement, and motivate providers to optimize service outcomes.
  • Leads negotiations and participle in RFPs with internal and external sources, on high impact, complex supply arrangements and manage contracts to deliver optimal category outcomes.
  • Provides effective leadership and direction to the category management team and cross-functional working groups to achieve a high-level of performance, integration and consistency.
  • Establishes performance standards and evaluation processes to assess and report on procurement activity in terms of progress, results, customer satisfaction, value and cost.
  • Maintains in depth knowledge of global category market and vendor trends and dynamics to develop strategies that maximize the organization’s influence in the market.
  • Develops obtainable yet aggressive sales goals that drive profitability and margin growth; trains team members; create culture that supports Trident’s goals and sales initiatives.
  • Controls inventory flow and costs and in conjunction with domestic and international supply chain teams; ensures that inventory risks are addressed and mitigated profitably.
  • Owns and manage the product roadmaps and provide the product's general strategic direction as well as profit and loss.
  • Leads, develops and motivates diverse, multifunction teams and hold them accountable.
  • Collaborates with the global species groups to ensure monitor supply and negotiate transfer pricing.

Minimum Requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business management, supply chain, sales or related discipline.   
  • 10-15 years’ experience in the global seafood industry and familiarity with various species markets such as Cod, Salmon and Wild Alaska Pollock.
  • Strong ethical and professional behavior that supports a culture of integrity.
  • Ability to analyze historical sales data and market trends to find profitable opportunities.
  • Experience in developing, training and mentoring team members in sales and supply chain.
  • Extensive negation and relationship management skills.
