The Facility Engineering Lead will repair and maintain equipment and machinery within a facility.  They will serve as a lead for the department and may supervise other employees as needed. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintains, repairs and operates plant systems such as: refrigeration, power generation, boilers, potable water, and waste treatment systems.
  • Reviews repair and maintenance needs and prioritizes work for assigned area(s).
  • Determines parts and equipment needs and ensures parts are available for work.  Works with appropriate personnel to procure parts as needed.
  • Regularly inspects and observes equipment and machinery to ensure it is in good working order. 
  • Assigns and/or performs preventative maintenance on equipment according to schedule and protocol.
  • Performs assessment of equipment in order to determine repair needs and performs or assigns repair tasks as appropriate.
  • Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications.
  • Ensures Engineers are carrying out repair and maintenance according to any compliance guidelines and Trident standards.
  • Understands all Trident Safety protocols and ensures all work is being performed using safe practices.
  • Uses tools and equipment including hand tools, lathe, drill press, grinders, saws, and other tools as needed.  

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions 
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety training

Minimum Requirements



Experience:  A minimum of 2 years experience working as a mechanic or engineer, food industry experience preferred.

Education:  HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent.  Trade or Technical School or related education preferred.

Qualifications: Working knowledge of Boilers, pumps, air compressors, hydraulics, motors, power transmission, plumbing, and basic electrical and mechanical systems.

Preferred Training and Certifications: HAZWOPER, OSHA 10/40, Boiler 1&2, EPA 608, Forklift Operator.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.  This position requires that the employee be available and willing to work overtime.

Mental Activities: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use teamwork skills.  The employee will use interpersonal and customer service skills.
