Summary:  The Wastewater Treatment Operator will operate and maintain a variety of equipment in the wastewater treatment plant of an assigned location, including sewage treatment, sludge processing and control of flow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists with or performs operation and general preventative maintenance of motors, pumps, boilers, chemical systems and other equipment used in primary, secondary and advanced stage wastewater treatment.
  • Performs wash-down, cleaning, painting, and maintenance of wastewater treatment equipment and facility.
  • Monitors control panels and adjusts valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow of sewage.
  • Reads PH levels and makes appropriate pump adjustments as needed.
  • Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and tests results to determine load requirements.
  • Starts and stops pumps, engines, and generators to control flow of raw sewage through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes.
  • Maintains accurate and up to date log of operations and records meter and gauge readings.
  • Collects sewage samples and conducts laboratory tests.
  • Oversees and completes water-desludging.
  • Operates and maintains power generating equipment to provide steam and electricity for plant.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings
  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned based on the plant operational and management needs

Minimum Requirements




  • A minimum of two years’ experience working in a wastewater treatment plant.  Experience with chemical compliance related to wastewater.


  • High School diploma or equivalent.  Associate or technical degree desirable.


  • Grade I certification in wastewater from the state of AK. Grade II or higher preferred.
