Description

 

Develops, implements, and coordinates product assurance program to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors:

Essential Functions

  1. Analyzes, evaluates, and presents information concerning factors such as business situations, production capabilities, manufacturing problems, economic trends, and design and development of new products for consideration by other members of management team.
  2. Develops and executes alternative methods and procedures to improve the plant quality assurance systems.
  3. Coordinates activities between developing departments and plant operational units for new product/process implementations.
  4. Reviews technical problems and procedures of plant departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
  5. Cooperates with other management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures, and goals.
  6. Ensures all department employees are aware of and comply with government and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  7. Develops initial and subsequent modifications of product assurance program to delineate areas of responsibility, personnel requirements, and operational procedures within program.
  8. Visits and confers with representatives of vendors to obtain information related to supply quality, capacity of vendor to meet orders, and vendor quality standards.
  9. Liaisons with representatives of governmental regulatory bodies such as USDC and FDA.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Forecasts raw materials required for Surimi analog facilities.                                                 
  2. Oversees the assignment of product codes and the creation and maintenance of production specifications and formulas.
  3. Reviews technical publications, articles, and abstracts to stay abreast of technical developments in industry.
  4. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Minimum Requirements

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  HACCP Certification is preferred

Experience:

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Knowledge of HACCP regulations, Food Safety, and Audit procedures required

Work Environment:    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands:    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception.  May be required to distinguish shades of color to identify abnormalities and/or defects in food products.

Mental Activities:      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use teamwork skills.  The employee will frequently use interpersonal and customer service skills.
