The Global Innovation Director is responsible to lead a global team of marketing and innovation professional across Trident Seafoods.  The Global Innovation Director will partner with the Brand Teams to identify and deliver consumer centric winning products, packaging and services to support the growth agenda. They will lead an innovation team globally, identifying new insights, trends and consumer need states to deliver a strong multi-year pipeline of breakthrough, incremental and brand news innovation with clear points of differentiation to unlock transformational growth.   They will be the lead in the innovation process development, portfolio management and governance to ensure all projects meeting financial hurdles and business case return.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive global innovation product and packaging initiatives, innovation and renovation for the holistic Trident Seafoods portfolio.  Build short and long-term business cases for all innovation projects.
  • Partner with marketing and the local innovation teams to deliver Brand/Category Pipelines including both Innovation and Renovation according to Business Goals and Strategies.
  • Lead the innovation agenda in the value-added seafood category across a diverse set of channels and customers in key markets. 
  • Identify and prioritize consumer insights and trends to create winning and differentiated innovation ideas and growth platforms that can be scaled globally
  • Create and lead the global innovation/portfolio management process and build a clear governance structure and innovation hurdles to ensure we have a winning 3-5 year sustainable and incremental innovation pipeline. 
  • Build new agile ways of working and new launch models to test, learn, fail or scale new ideas.
  • Set the direction and govern the use of Project and Portfolio Management Group tools, processes, and methodologies across the company, providing operational, strategic, and thought leadership to achieve group and portfolio goals and objectives
  • Build innovation capabilities from ideation through to commercialization.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Coach and functionally lead a team of local innovation talent to deliver peer leading impact and results.
  • Partner with R&D to ensure strong technology platforms to drive differentiation and distinction and partner with Supply Chain to ensure manufacturing capability. 
  • Leverage key suppliers and partnerships to build a robust innovation pipeline.
  • Collaborate closely with all relevant stakeholders to support operational excellence in scaling product launches across both internal and external manufacturing facilities
  • Collaborate with R&D to develop value added seafood solutions with differentiated benefits supported by differentiated technologies to retain and attract new consumers
  • Reporting to the VP Marketing and Innovation, be the primary Innovation leader for the Global Commercial Leadership Team. 

Minimum Requirements



  • 10+ years in marketing/innovation (preferably in the food or beverage industry). The ideal candidate will have progressive and increasing levels of responsibility and leadership accountability managing marketing/innovation programs and people.
  • Demonstrated Leadership in cross functional teams involving marketing, sales, R&D, supply chain, finance, legal in the development of new products.
  • Able to fully understand complex and unstable business environment in order to activate proper strategy to drive business results from a top and bottom-line perspective.
  • General knowledge of the processes within marketing, innovation, supply chain and global sales channels.
  • Strong commercial acumen, judgement and understanding of the business and industry. Experience leading a marketing/innovation function across multiple markets or countries preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results by working autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to create a roadmap for short term and long-term innovation deliverables and skills to influence relevant cross functional business partners for implementation.


Bachelor’s degree minimum, ideally in Marketing, Innovation or Business


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent business skills and understand the levers of all key functions especially Marketing, R&D, Sales, Finance and Supply Chain.
  • Self-starter, autonomous and demonstrated ability to bring disruptive and innovative ideas.
