Trident Seafoods has an amazing opportunity for a new Vice President of Global Communications who wants the unique and entrepreneurial experience of leading, building and shaping the internal and external communications function.  Trident has a special and differentiated story to tell the world and we’re excited to elevate our Communications capability to do just that.  Externally, this will include corporate and press-related media, CEO and executive communications initiatives, development of our corporate platforms and spokespeople, governmental/regulatory requests, and internet content.  Internally, this role will build capabilities and programs that enable compelling, relevant, and cohesive messages across our global organization reinforcing our values, culture, and helping our employees embrace a strong sense of belonging. The position will report to the Executive Vice President of Government Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility and partner closely with the Executive Team on various communication strategies.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assesses, designs, and builds a talented and high performing global Communications function. 
  • Develops and launches an integrated global communication plan while capturing and building the Trident story with programs and initiatives directly tied to Trident’s business priorities and values.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor and center of expertise to ELT members.   Partners with and advises ELT on strategic communications related to priorities, including the people strategy and culture.
  • Oversees the daily operations of the company’s global communications efforts—including media monitoring, daily clips, metrics reporting round-up.
  • Collaborates with the business/regions/functions to plan and execute internal and external corporate communications campaigns.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with media organizations and journalists. Generates statements and responses on behalf of the company in interviews and with journalists. Arranges interviews and writes press releases to promote Trident Seafoods or in support of public relations.
  • Develops and leads crisis communication plans and coordination across global markets.
  • Writes succinct, engaging content for a variety of communications mediums/audiences, including media, intranet, email, social media channels, etc.
  • Sets internal communications strategies, ensuring consistency of narrative and message across the company.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions. 
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience working with a global organization in corporate communications, with an emphasis on external and internal communications.
  • 7+ years of experience in content and channel strategy and C-level executive communications.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field required
  • Master’s degree preferred

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience building a high performing corporate communication function.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and manage communications professionals (internally and externally) to achieve outstanding results.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with C-level executives and other senior leaders on strategic communications, including executive communications.
  • Proven capabilities in both strategic planning and tactical execution while moving seamlessly between the two while juggling competing priorities.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit who thrives in a fast-paced growing organization.
  • Ability to thrive in an environment where ambiguity and change are the norm.
  • Demonstrated media relations experience.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in managing and evolving employee communications channels, including digital communications and tools.
  • Experience in leveraging visual communications to develop stand-out content.
  • Experience measuring progress toward achieving stated communication objectives.
  • Leadership communication effectiveness, and other content and channel effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
