Description
Summary: The Shoreplant Safety Representative will facilitate all aspects of plant safety programs including training, incident response, disaster preparedness and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Rep I:
- Plans, organizes and delivers various training and certification programs.
- Tracks and maintains training and certification information according to protocol.
- Organizes and attends Safety Committee meetings.
- Prepares and delivers presentations at meetings as requested.
- Develops monthly safety tips for distribution to employees.
- Assists with incident investigations
Safety Rep II – all responsibilities of Safety Rep I plus:
- Develops and maintains procedures for testing safety systems and protocols and ensures testing is documented according to protocol.
- Conducts or directs incident investigations and ensures documentation is prepared according to protocol.
- Facilitates Return To Work (RTW) program between managers, supervisors and employees.
- Attends and provides reports at plant management meetings as requested.
- Assists with activities and protocols to enable the location to achieve and maintain VPP or similar status.
- Assists with inspection or other regulatory activities as needed.
Safety Rep III – all responsibilities of Rep I and II plus:
- Provides direction and general supervision to Safety Reps I and II as needed.
- Oversees training and certification programs and ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
- Acts as Supervisor in absence of Safety Supervisor.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Cross trains and provides coverage as needed for Environmental Technician responsibilities.
- Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
- Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings
Minimum Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Associates (AA) degree or related degree or certificate preferred.
Experience:
Level I: No prior experience is required for a level I safety representative, however prior experience is preferred.
Level II: a minimum of one year related experience
Level III: a minimum of two years’ related experience; AA degree or equivalent; or a combination of education and experience.
Qualifications: OSHA Certified Safety Coordinator, or ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.
Training and Skills: proficiency with MS office products. Ability to read, interpret and write reports and correspondence in English.
