The Cost Accountant will assist in the financial activities of the organization in a variety of ways. This position supports Trident’s Alaska Manufacturing Controllers and will be based at the Support Center office in Seattle, WA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares and maintains bills of material and assign labor and overhead cost to finished product.
- Monitors and analyzes trends in cost variances, production volumes, and material usage and implement timely adjustments where needed.
- Assists in the accounting month-end process by preparing accrual journal entries, raw material cost allocations, reclassifying operating expenses and distributing manufacturing variances by product and categories.
- Generates and distributes weekly/monthly/quarterly spend, inventory, and production reports as needed.
- Works with operations support departments such as export, logistics, and inventory control to facilitate timely and accurate recording of production and shipments. Troubleshoots and researches unexplained inventory transactions.
- Assists manufacturing controllers in preparing plant financials and review various trends and key performance indicators.
- Supports preparation of operations spend budgets, validate data integrity, and prepares necessary supporting documentation.
- Initiates process improvement projects to update transactional, financial, and reporting processes.
- Provides support with internal and external audit requests as well as compliance reporting to department of revenue, among others.
- Takes on ad hoc reports and a variety of special ‘one-off’ analytical projects.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
- Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
- Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings
Minimum Requirements
Experience:
- 2-3 years’ experience in finance/accounting ideal
- Experience with an ERP system, such as JD Edwards, Oracle, or SAP is preferred
- Variance analysis experience including price vs. usage
- What-if analysis, break-even modeling, and ad-hoc reporting
- Financial modeling
- Database (BI design, SQL, Access) experience preferred
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting from four-year college or university
Qualifications & Skills
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis
- High level cross-functional communication
- Manufacturing and/or food Industry experience preferred
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
