Summary:

The Buyer - Repair & Returns Specialist supports the sourcing team by performing the following responsibilities below. In addition, this position aids the Purchasing Manager in support of incoming and outgoing freight from suppliers and internal operations. In addition, this role compiles information and records to prepare purchase orders for repair and return of materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verifies specifications of purchase requests
  • Contacts suppliers to obtain pricing and specifications
  • Enters purchase orders for repairs and new materials
  • Computes total cost of items purchased
  • Works closely with Shipping & Receiving team and Accounts Payable team to ensure accuracy of invoicing
  • Compares prices, specifications, and delivery dates and awards purchase orders to bidders or places orders with suppliers
  • Follows up on supplier quality and service issues
  • Receives parts and equipment from plants, vessels and suppliers
  • Sends parts out to be evaluated for repair by suppliers
  • Communicates with end-user and management regarding cost and return estimate
  • Replaces parts with new, if not cost effective
  • Arranges and tracks shipments back to end-user
  • Communicates with Purchasing Manager and Plant & Vessel Managers as required
  • Compiles records of items purchased or transferred between departments, prices, deliveries and inventories
  • Coordinates with buyers and vendors to return materials, due to over-shipment, damaged goods, and/or incorrect parts
  • Collects all paperwork needed, and advises S&R on method of return
  • Ensures that credit is issued by vendor for returned item(s)
  • Manages the priority and logistics for all goods requested and procured

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Performs other similar or related duties as assigned
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings

Minimum Requirements

 

 

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years' related experience; a combination of education and experience

Qualifications:

  • Highly detail-orientated and organized
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. 
  • Previous purchasing experience desired in direct supplier contact, acquiring supplier quotations, confirming and issuing purchase orders, supplying shipping instructions for purchase orders and reviewing and troubleshooting supplier orders and invoices.
